Hollywood

Hollywood is the historical center of American cinema.

Movie-making, studios and stars are just 10 miles NE of downtown Los Angeles.  H. J. Whitley is said to be “the father of Hollywood”. A real estate developer, he saw immediate potential in the area, building the area’s 1st hotel at Highland Ave. and Prospect (now Hollywood Blvd.), funding electric street lamps up Highland, and developing the Mediterranean styled Whitley Heights, the 1st celebrity community.

Hollywood is home to many historic attractions; the Hollywood Bowl, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Academy Awards, Grauman’s Chinese Theater, the Capitol Records Building, Paramount Studios, Griffith Park Observatory, and the Roosevelt Hotel to name a few.

There are many diverse neighborhoods such as The Dell, Hollywood Heights, Outpost, The Oaks, Beachwood Canyon, Lake Hollywood Estates, Whitley Heights, Laurel Canyon, Hollywood Knolls, and Bronson Canyon and the Hollywood “Flats”; with 1920’s Spanish Mediterranean, sleek Mid-Century Modern, and new construction (such as the W Hotel residence).

Whether it’s the gazing at the Hollywood sign, seeing wildlife in your backyard, or living atop one of the world’s most famous intersections, Hollywood entertains all types of properties to call home.
